"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great"- A League of Their Own

Due to computer errors, I had to wait till today to post this blog:

Well folks, we did it. Day 1 of the saga has been officially biked.

I’m currently blogging from our hotel room in a Days Inn off of West 90, just below I-75 in Lake City. Our hotel room is crowded, full of your typical travel gear: boxes, coolers, and luggage. Perhaps the most atypical things in the room are the things taking up the most space: 3 tired bikes and 3 worn out bikers. The three bikers as well as Cory are officially passed out, tired from the tough first day.

And boy was it.

After the two hour drive from Gainesville, we started off the trip this morning from Jacksonville Beach around 11:15 AM, with family, friends, and fans there to cheer us on. The amount of support and encouragement (as well as the goodies and well-wishes placed in our packed car) was amazing, and definitely pumped the bikers up for the passage ahead.

And they would need it.

75 miles, 2 wrong turns, over 20 train tracks, 9 hours and 1 iPhone incident later (sorry Nick), the crew made it to the outskirts of Lake City. Exhausted from the trek and heat of the day, the boys took refuge in the hotel, showered, ate, and passed out.

We had accomplished our goal: we made it to the first stop and no one was injured (the latter of course being of more importance). And, as we finished the last leg, the bikers all came to a realization: this trip was going to be rough, tough, and hard.

Of course, like the quote says, this is what makes the trip so great. Hopefully with a good night’s rest and a hearty breakfast, the bikers will be pumped for their trail towards

Tallahassee.

Thank you all again for the great support!

Keep sending well-wishes, donations, and encouragement!

-Kaylyn
