Q & A
Whenever I tell people about this trip they always ask the same two questions: "Why?" and "Where the hell are you going to stay?"

Well here are my official answers.

Why? More like why not? I can't think of a better way to spend my last summer before graduation in the fall. Times are tough and it is affecting everyone in different ways, for me internships dried up. So instead of working a mindless job why not go on an adventure and do something great, for a great cause.

And as for where we are going to stay, that is the least of my concerns. In all likelihood we will spend most of the nights in the pop-up camper, a hotel, or someone's house we know along the way.

Letting go in the face of CAT-astrope

This trip is two short weeks away, and it never quite hit me how close we were.

Until I got rid of my cat.

Frisbee (his name) is three years old and has rarely tasted the outside world, and the longest car ride he's ever had has been at most ten minutes when I've taken him to the vet.  He's an inside cat who needs attention, and since this bike trip will take Kirky (the driver/my roommate) and I away for a month and a half, I had to give him to my parents...

Come on baby... Daddy needs a new wheel!
About three weeks ago I had my back wheel of my bike stolen. I walked out of Weimer hall and saw that my bike had been pillaged and I was heart broken but also, I was confused. my back wheel is the older of the two wheels and not anywhere near the quality of my front. Also my front would have been easier to take, they had to cut through a chain to get to it and then dissemble the back just to get it off. The biggest thing that surprised my was the 1500 dollar plus bike sitting next to mine with a U lock to the body was untouched. After three long weeks...

Please let me feel better
I feel like complete crap, I have been sick for almost a week now and it only seems to be getting worse. I know the trip doesn't start for another few weeks, but I have been known to harbor a sickness for a long time even if it is just annoying more than anything in the end. I also have a lot to do in preparation for the trip and this doesn't help at all. Anyways if I don't start to get better soon this is going to make for one interesting trip.

Never thought this much work would be this much fun
I have been planning this trip for over a year now and with 16 days left things are starting to get hectic. I am running to sponsors, calling individuals that want/have donated to the trip and make sure we have the appropriate equipment to traverse the country. The best part so far...
